Diwali sweets
Yohaan and Pranaya brought Diwali sweets homemade by their mums for the class to see and for Mrs Duffy to share with her family. The bharfi was delicious. Thanks very much!

Learning Goals
For writing we have been using individual learning goals with success criteria to help us achieve these goals. Once we have 6 ticks the learning goals go on our congratulations wall, then we select a new learning goal with Mrs Duffy. Here are some learning goals on the congratulation board.
Here are some students' explaining how the goals have helped them.
Keng Shen
Having the goals helps my brain.
Celine
My goal helps my brain think about what to write. it helps me to do personal excellence and write nicely.
Yohaan
The success criteria helps me remember what to do.
Richie
They help me remember what to write.
Kavin
The goal card tells me what to focus. I feel happy when I tick stars because I get a prize. I can write by myself.
Lida
When Mrs Duffy talks about my goal card it helps my brain to do personal excellence.

Earthquake stories.
Last Thursday the whole school participated in shakeout day which was a New Zealand wide event. We did drop, cover and hold. Then we evacuated onto the field. Everybody participated well and demonstrated they knew what to do! Well done! Prior to Thursday we found out what causes an earthquake. Here are some of our stories.
Earthquake stories from room 18.
Azal
The earthquake is rattling and wobbling and the
tectonic plates move apart. The
buildings move, the ground shakes. That
is how the earthquake comes. It can
crack our houses. Earthquakes are
everywhere.
Yohaan
An earthquake is when the tectonic plate moves
apart. When tectonic plates move apart
the the earth shakes. Buildings move
when earthquakes happen and doors wobble.
Keng Shen
An earthquake is when the tectonic plates move
apart. The earthquake makes bridges
break and the road makes big cracks.
Earthquakes break houses.
Zarar
An earthquake is when the earth shakes. Plates move apart. Buildings move.
Aayushi
The earthquake is when the earth is shaking. It is when the tectonic plates move.
Eric
An earthquake is when the ground shakes and the ground
cracks.
Kavin
An earthquake is when the ground moves. It is when the tectonic plates move and it
looks like a puzzle. When an earthquake
happens the ground shakes.
